Talking movie evolution on Hearts Through History
Today I am guest blogging on the Hearts Through History romance writers blog. Since I just saw The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug the other day (twice, in fact) I have the miracle of moving pictures on my mind. Figured it was time to revive a past blog on the creation of magic lanterns and how they evolved into our present day cinematic experiences.
I don’t have time to write full review of The Desolation of Smaug, but can say it was AMAZING! I am a huge JRR Tolkien fan, and now a HUGE fan of Peter Jackson and his team, who have faithfully and incredibly brought Tolkien’s work to life. The three movies of The Lord of the Rings are my all time favorite movies. Now, so far, with the two movies out of the three planned for The Hobbit, Jackson has proven that he hasn’t lost his touch.
Not everyone is a fan of fantasy books or movies. I get that. But these stories are so rich that personally I feel it is a shame to limit them by labeling as mere “fantasy” and thus miss out on a mind-blowing experience. The first movie, The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey, is on DVD and available for rent. Give it a chance, then go see The Desolation of Smaug. You won’t be sorry, I promise!
