Pride & Prejudice 2005 10 Year Anniversary Celebration
10 years ago this month, specifically on September 16, Pride and Prejudice starring Keira Knightley and Matthew Macfadyen premiered in the UK. The movie adaptation directed by Joe Wright would cross the pond for a US and worldwide release in November. As everyone who has followed me for any length of time knows, it was over the Thanksgiving weekend in 2005 that I first saw the movie that would, in turn, inspire my entire literary career. Thus, while during the two months of theatrical viewings in England I was largely unaware of this outstanding adaptation of Jane Austen’s classic novel, September is a month to celebrate.
And NO ONE is better equipped to host a celebratory extravaganza than Jeane, who created and has single-handedly maintained the only online website exclusively devoted to the 2005 version of Pride and Prejudice. For months Jeane has plotted and planned, and now September is here.
As of today, some 15 special articles have been published, all of them focusing on the anniversary. I have joined the fun in the round table discussions, and will be adding a blog post later this month.
