Dr. Darcy’s travels
My next release is The Passions of Dr. Darcy, due out on April 1, 2013. Whoot! More on that novel can be read under “The Novels” menu – or just click HERE. For those familiar with George Darcy from the previous books of the Darcy Saga, it is no surprise that he is a wanderer who travels far and wide across India. Tracking his journeys wasn’t always easy for me! I used a couple dozen maps from the three decades he dwelt in India – 1789 to 1817 – to plot his movements. Finally I decided to create a map for the novel that clearly notes the places pertinent to him while leaving out the hundreds of Indian towns and regions not relevant so it would not be impossible to read. Finding just the right one to fit what I needed was not easy, but I eventually did. Using a program called GIMP, I altered the map specifically for George, and to my delight and appreciation the original map creator allowed me to reprint it in the published novel! Thank you, Frank E. Smitha.
I thought I would share it with you as a sneak peak of what to expect! There are three or four places on this map that Dr. Darcy does not actually visit (as far as I know) and many towns he did dwell in that I could not add without cluttering the map until unreadable. These are the places most important and highlighted in the novel, as well as a table noting the regions of India and their relationship with the British Empire. Of significance in the latter regard is that during the years Dr. Darcy traveled, the bulk of India was independent or only in an alliance with the British.
I totally agree with you May, Sharon pours her heart and soul into all the research and it really pays off because the story is brought to life as a result. The Passions of Dr Darcy will be a wonderful journey and I really love the cover design. Its pefect

This is fantastic! It just shows you the amount of research an author has to do while all we do is enjoy reading the books! Looking forward to reading what I expect to be a very exotic novel! Dr Darcy sounds adorable!
