September 3, 2013 – We were finally in our new town, yet it would be a while before we felt settled. Our very first day was an endless run to set up a bank account, meet with our realtor and lending agent, and do some basic cleaning. Our soon-to-be-official new house had been sitting empty for some months. Lots of dust bunnies and insects (dead and alive) that had to be swept and vacuumed away before the movers came… the next day!
Moving our stuff in.
There they were, at 10am, just minutes after we signed the massive stack of papers that transferred ownership of the house to us. It was after 7pm before the last box was unloaded and disassembled furniture put together. Putting our beds together to sleep in was about all we had energy for. But, we were in our new, awesome home!
The next three weeks were a constant rush of unpacking, organizing, painting, buying stuff (the folks at Lowes know us by first name), constructing shelves, cleaning, and more. It seemed never ending! We pushed ourselves hard, but the urge to just get it done was driving us. I’ll explain why the urgency in another post. For now, I’ll stop writing and let the images below speak for themselves.

Stunning!! Great JOB!!! Your home looks so spacious!! I wish my pantry looked like yours. Mine looks like Fibber McGee and Molly’s closet!! (Oh, did that age me??? )
Not at all Georgia…. I knew exactly who you meant, and since I am SO young, no aging is done here. LOL!
We used the awesome Rubbermaid shelving for the project. It was so wonderful that we re-did all of our closets with the Rubbermaid Fast-Track units. Not too expensive, easy to install (relatively speaking), and totally flexible. We love them!
