Coming next week: Armchair Book Expo America
Book Expo America is THE largest event in North America for the publishing industry. Held in New York City, it is a week of packed events for anyone involved with books in any way, including readers. Most of the action occurs on-site in NYC. However, there are many ways to be involved in the event, connect with authors, learn about new books on the horizon, and see what is going on.
What is the Armchair BEA? From the Armchair BEA website–
Armchair BEA is the experience for book bloggers to participate in Book Expo America (BEA) from the comfort of their homes. This experience is created lovingly by book bloggers specifically for our peers who for whatever reason are not able to participate in the main conference in New York each year. We bring publishers, authors, and bloggers together in celebrating our love for all things literary by hosting celebrations such as sneak peeks, daily discussion topics, and sponsored giveaways.
Armchair BEA runs simultaneously with BEA Bloggers Conference and Book Expo America, thus it is scheduled for May 26 – 31. While those in New York are running around exhausting themselves, even if having a blast, folks at home can have just as much fun while staying in their jammies and slippers. Sweet!
Events are not limited to the Armchair BEA site. Oh no! The extravaganza sweeps the blog-o-sphere. There are Twitter parties, giveaways galore, bloggers interacting, Instagram challenges, blog hops, and more. ALL of it centered around BOOKS!! How can it get any better than that?
For my part, I will be posting something each day, based on the daily theme. **Exception is Wednesday when Regina Jeffers is my Guest Author. As a Sponsor of the event, I am giving away prizes too!
- Darcy and Elizabeth: A Season of Courtship by Sharon Lathan, eBook (5 Copies Available)
- Miss Darcy Falls in Love by Sharon Lathan, Winner’s Choice of eBook or Print (2 Copies Available)
MARK YOUR CALENDARS for Thursday, May 29 for the Twitter Party at 8am EST. I am joining that one because the topic is “Beyond the Borders” – a discussion of novels that “transported you to a different world, taught you about a different culture, and/or helped you step into the shoes of someone different from you.” I will add my insights, along with probably hundreds of others, and will be offering one copy of The Passions of Dr. Darcy during the Twitter Party chat. Quite apropos, I thought!
