It does not seem weddings have changed as much which is nice to see some traditions still the same. When my husband and I got married we left the reception early and left everyone dancing and drinking because we thought they would never leave!! LOL and we had to turn people away from the hotel. We got on a plane next day and went far away to Hawaii for our honeymoon!!! We also had our parents freeze a piece of wedding cake and saved it for a year and had a bite of it at our first year anniversary and it was good. Thank you Sharon for all these wondeful weeks of romance

Thank you for another informative post. When my husband and I married we had no dancing (I have 2 left feet and am not graceful. I trip a lot) and had a morning ceremony. It kind of sounds like we might have fit in back then (except for the dancing part, possibly).

In a wonderful letter of 1767, recalling his own wedding Josiah Wedgwood observes to his newly married friend, the publisher Ralph Griffiths how he wished ‘it had been the fashion […] for newly Married Men to hear, see, feel or understand nothing but their Wives for a handfull [sic] of the first months after Matrimony. Nothing,’ Wedgwood adds, ‘was more irksome to me than business and the impertinence of Gossiping friends….’
