Today is the day that In The Arms of Mr. Darcy is officially released!!! Guess how I am celebrating the release of my 4th novel?
That’s right! I am at Disneyland!! The Happiest Place on Earth is a fabulous locale to celebrate this auspicious event, don’t you think? Truthfully this was the only weekend that worked for our family for a host of reasons. In the end I figured it would be great to spend a whole weekend of super-fun. We will be leaving this morning, as this message is posting, for the 3-hour drive to Anaheim and then hitting the Park ASAP. I probably will make my husband stop at every bookstore along the way so I can snag some images of my gorgeous novel sitting on a shelf with the other 3 gorgeous novels. I suppose that will make the trip longer, but what the heck!
Then tonight I will watch the fireworks bursting over Sleeping Beauty’s Castle and imagine that one or two of the biggest and brightest are in honor of my launch. Why not?
Can you believe I have 4 novels published? I sure can’t. Despite the wild ride over the past year and a half it still feels like a dream. A wonderful, exciting dream I do not want to wake up from! Look at my gorgeous novels sitting on my office shelf. If the dream starts to feel too real, or the work overwhelming, I can look at these beautiful books and know it is real.
Then I can read the satisfied emails and enthused comments on Facebook or the blogs to remind me how my humble tale of marital happiness and life has touched so many people. If that fails – and it never does since happy fans is what it is all about – I can take a look at the reviews! Here are samplings of the ones I have received thus far—
If most of these events sound ordinary, it’s because they are. Ms. Lathan’s genius is to spin the everyday occurrences of married life into a page-turner. In a world full of strife, this book full of happiness is a treat for all. Linda Banche Romance Author
The reader is transported to the start of the Industrial Revolution in England. It is a land of titled nobles and servants and a group of professionals, but most of the power, money and influence is concentrated in a few noble hands. The daily life in large manor houses is amazing for modern readers to contemplate, and Lathan does an excellent job of outlining what such a daily routine consisted of. This book is recommended for readers who loved Austen’s work and are interested to see the story continue. Booksie’s Blog
A titillating, yet amorous look into the privileged lives of England’s gentry as they travel back and forth from countryside estates to the London “seasons” of society, with all the protocol, pomp and circumstance that comes with the responsibilities of their positions. Historical Novel Review
I always enjoy seeing how Lizzy and Darcy’s “happily ever after” looks to an author different than Austen. This book stays true to Austen’s writing style and her vision of these characters. Palmer’s Picks
I have to thank the people who take time to read my novels and then share their positive opinions. This is so important! Please, consider doing the same so that curious readers will choose my saga and obtain the same joy you have.
Today also begins my Virtual Book Tour. All this month I will be popping up somewhere to talk about my latest installment in the Darcy Saga. The complete list is on the Calendar of Events page. I have some busy days ahead of me! But that is great since I love to chat about my novels. I will be on the road, but modern technology means that I can still check in using my awesome iPhone!
Come on over to One Literature Nut where I am hanging out with my pal Becky. She asked me what my favorite part about being a published author is. The answer was an easy one for me. Can you guess?
