Miss Darcy Falls in Love is the World Book Night US “Friday Reads”

April 23 is fast approaching! That is the date for World Book Night US when close to a million books will be freely given to people who are not big readers or cannot afford books. For more information on WBN and my involvement, read my blog post here:
World Book Night US 2014 & Miss Darcy Falls in Love

MDFL WBNThis is a wonderful charity event I am deeply honored to be a part of. My novel – Miss Darcy Falls in Love – was chosen as one of the 35 titles for 2014. Yeah! With that honor comes a number of fun media events. I’ll alert to my personal appearances in April once I have more information. WBN.org is making arrangements for activities close to where I live in Kentucky, probably Louisville and/or Versailles. Stay tuned for those announcements.

For the present, this post is to notify everyone that Miss Darcy Falls in Love is the “Friday Reads” on January 31.

Sponsored by World Book Night, “Friday Reads” is a designated day for new readers to start the selected book, as well as established fans to re-read. Then share your thoughts on the World Book Night Facebook Page and/or on Twitter with the #FridayReads hashtag.

  1. Hello Sharon,
My name is Alyssa. I was picked as a World Book Night Giver and got my first choice of books to distribute, yours! (I’m not lying! I was going to attach a screenshot of the email WBN sent me, but I can’t find a way to attach it.. haha) But I’m so excited! I LOVE your books! I can’t wait to spread the joy of reading; I’m choosing to give them out at my school, the University of Louisville. Sometimes, as students, we have to read texts that are boring or that are required for class, so I’m planning to hand the copies of your book out to students to remind them that sometimes it’s okay to read for pleasure and for fun, or even as a way to relax.
Also, I’m an employee at Barnes and Noble in Louisville, KY at 801 S. Hurstbourne Pkwy (store 2705). You mentioned making some appearances, I don’t know if you’re planning to do one at our store or not, but I know we would love for you to do a signing, if that’s something you’d be interested in! (If you are doing one in Louisville, it’s probably at the Summit Barnes and Noble location, they always get all the good signings! haha) Feel free to call our store at 502-426-0255; our store manager is Sherry. I’d love to meet you!

    • Hi Alyssa!! What a delight to see this message. I have emailed you privately, but wanted to say here that it is wonderful to hear from those who have been selected by World Book Night to give out my novel. Yippee! I have heard from three givers so far. Presumably there are many, many more, and I hope to hear from a few. Very exciting!!

It looks like I’ll be appearing in Lexington, KY on April 22 at one of the stores there. I don’t have all the details as yet, but will announce once I have the facts. I will definitely contact the B&N in Louisville too, though. What fun 🙂

  2. Congrats once again on this huge honour Sharon. A book worthy of being read by millions. I’m sure they will fall in love with Georgiana and Sebastian just like we did. I look forward to hearing more about your appearances 🙂 xx

I love to hear from you!
