Just watched the Derby, Sharon, and looked for you in the crowd! What a Cinderella story for California Chrome–the favorite who won! Since we’ve had horses for over 30 years, I am always up for seeing such beautiful animals do what they do best. It’s even more special when you learn that this winner was out of an $8,000 mare bred to a stallion for $2500. Red horses, were historically thought to be “feisty and unpredictable.” (We had a couple of those.) I love it!

Sounds like fun and also almost like Australia’s Melbourne Cup race once a year 🙂

Sounds very exciting! Is it pronounced Derby or Darby? Always wondered.

When I was very young, I was convinced that I would grow up and own racing horses. My father kept trying to explain to me that I would have to marry some very wealthy fellow first. LOL I just love Arabian horses, so majestic! Have a julep for me!!
